WordPress installs in a few minutes from cPanel. Before you start, make sure your domain already points to our servers (the nameservers are in your plan's welcome e-mail).
Option 1: the cPanel installer (recommended)
- Open your client area, open your hosting service and click Log in to cPanel. No password needed.
- In cPanel, find the Software section and open the application installer (WordPress Manager, Softaculous or Install WordPress, depending on your plan).
- Choose Install and fill in:
- Domain: your domain with https:// (the SSL certificate is free).
- Directory: leave it empty so the site lives at
yourdomain.com, notyourdomain.com/wp. - Admin user: do not use
admin. Pick your own name and a long, unique password. - Admin e-mail: one you check; WordPress notices go there.
- Click Install. In a minute you get the link to
https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
Option 2: manual install
- Download WordPress from wordpress.org.
- In cPanel open File Manager, go to
public_html, upload the.zipand click Extract. Move the contents of thewordpressfolder intopublic_html. - In cPanel open the MySQL Database Wizard, create a database and a user with a strong password, and grant all privileges.
- Visit
https://yourdomain.com: the WordPress wizard asks for the database name, user and password. The database host islocalhost. - Enter the site title and your admin user.
After installing
- Under Settings → General, confirm both addresses start with
https://. - Under Settings → Permalinks, choose Post name for friendly URLs.
- Delete themes and plugins you do not use.
- Turn on a backup (see the backups guide in this section).
